Functional medicine is -as described by the Institute For Functional Medicine- a dynamic approach to assessing, preventing, and treating complex chronic disease. Functional medicine acknowledges  that chronic disease is almost always preceded by a lengthy period of declining function in one or more of the body's systems.


Returning patients to health requires reversing or substantially improving the specific dysfunctions that have contributed to the disease state. Those dysfunctions are, for each of us, the result of lifelong interactions among our environment, our lifestyle, and our genetic predispositions. 


Functional medicine clinicians focus on restoring balance to the dysfunctional systems by strengthening the fundamental physiological processes that underlie them, and by adjusting the environmental inputs that nurture or impair them.

 Weight-loss or Weight-gain

In functional medicine we do not count calories or prescribe "diets". We investigate first possible biochemical glitches in the individual that may be causing the metabolic problem with functional diagnostic tests. The culprits of weight-gain are diet, hormones, dysbiosis, digestive problems, and stress.

Weight-gain is successfully addressed by correcting digestive insufficiency or other G.I problems, and improving nutrient status.


Diabtes type I can be addressed with functional medicine to improve insulin sensitivity. We also aim at reducing inflammation in the body as inflammation ends up causing huge problems in diabetes with time, if left untreated.

Diabetes type II is totally reversible with functional medicine.
